On March 26, 2026, members and volunteers from the Uzbek Community Center of San Francisco Bay Area (UCCSFBA) conducted an engaging cultural presentation for first graders at Orion Alternative School in Redwood City, California.
The presentation, hosted in Mx. Nolan Allan's classroom, introduced young students to Uzbekistan's rich heritage. UCCSFBA volunteers Sultonbek Rahimhodjayev, Sabrina Bakhtiyorova, and Kamila Rahimhodjayeva shared fascinating insights about Uzbekistan's geography, population, major cities, diverse landscapes, people, traditional attire, music, art, and cuisine.
Students, parents, and school administrators responded enthusiastically to the presentation. The cultural experience concluded with a delicious tasting of authentic Uzbek treats, including hot samsa (both meat and vegetable varieties), traditional Uzbek bread, and sweet pastries, which were enjoyed by students, teachers, and attending parents alike.
The event was warmly received, with attendees expressing strong interest in learning more about UCCSFBA and Uzbek culture. School representatives indicated their desire to invite the organization back for future events, highlighting the success of this educational and cultural exchange.
UCCSFBA, a nonprofit organization, is eager to collaborate and participate in local and statewide cultural events to expose the rich Uzbek culture to diverse communities throughout California. Such cultural exchanges not only foster cross-cultural understanding but also help boost tourism and awareness of Uzbekistan's vibrant heritage.
This presentation exemplifies UCCSFBA's ongoing commitment to sharing Uzbek traditions and fostering cross-cultural understanding throughout the Bay Area community.
